My shiny new Samsung LC49J89 49" 32:9 Ultra-Wide Curved Monitor

I didnt say max detail, I said I can run quite a few games at full resolution. But saying that Grid 2, Griid autosport, Alien Isolation and Dirt Rally will run at full detail at 3840x1080, and they run real smooth.

I have messed around with that but it doesnt improve the stretchyness.

Sorry but this just is not true. Read your op again and you will see that it says and i quote " but it runs Dirt Rally, Alien Isolation, Grid2, Grid Autosport and DOOM maxed out silky smooth."

Also each to their own but your definition of "real smooth" or "silky smooth" must be really low, like console level.
And these are not excactly demanding games.

Anyway im done with this thread as you cannot admit that you stretched the truth to try and make things look better than they actually are and when questioned about your obvious lies you then claimed that you never even said any such thing.
Thank god for the quote feature as that meant you could not even go back and do a ninja edit :D

Ah Im really sorry about that well just crossout Doom 2016, its not far off maxed out as you can see and in 2560x1080 the lowest fps I get is in the high 50s and low 40s at 3840x1080..... With the other games I have stated, I can run them maxed out at full res. Sorry once again, I forget what I have written half the time.

Found Doom to be an extremely smooth feeling game regardless of fps (up to a point of course, or down to a point). And the fact the monitor has Freesync to help keep it smooth even with dips into the 50s has not been mentioned.

Why don't you try the Vulkan version instead of OpenGL @Phil2008?

Just wondering what you would consider "silky smooth" as a r9 290 at 1080 would get around 35 fps on doom on max settings and your monitor is double the pixels of that which would mean roughly around 18-20 fps :o

Not sure why you'd get 35 fps at 1080p, other than early drivers or something.

What a difference a driver makes. A re-test of Doom on the R9 390 with AMD Crimson driver 16.5.2.1 installed. Tom shows the boost in performance from the older version, and how this card now holds up to the GTX 970.

That would seem to explain it.

I used to have a 290 so im very aware of what they can do and its not what you are saying.

Vid above looks like it's not what you're saying (thank goodness). Not that much between a 390 and 290.

I have just quickly played through the first level to see if theres any chuggyness during the battles at 2560x1080 and it does get slightly chuggy, but nothing really to cause any problems to gameplay. I have tried the Vulkan but the game crashes?

Ah bit of a shame, it's meant to squeeze more out of AMD cards. Made no difference with the GTX 970 I had. Haven't played it again yet with the GTX 1070.

Have you tried borderless window instead of windowed, with Vulkan?

Yes apparently Vulken compatible games give AMD cards a boost,, and the game still crashes in borderless mode. The R9 290 is about as fast as a GTX 970, plus I dont know if this is true but someone said a few months ago that recent drivers have improved the R9 290?

Hi guys,

I bought this amazing monitor (CJ89) and I'm fighting with it to make my USB receiver for mouse and keyboard work when I'm using HDMI or DP.
Does anyone know how can I make it work?
Thanks!!!!!!
