My Sky router stats

Hi

Today is my day 10 of my Sky internet, how do my stats look. (basicly same as o2). Is there anything I can ring up and get sky to change.

The noise margin looks a little high, the normal noise margin is 6db

See what happens after today and see if your router looses the sync tomorrow as it may connect at a higher speed, as on a 36db attenuation you should be able to connect at 9-10mb at least (I presume that all of your phone line wiring is in order in your house?).

Was a new line put in last march, I only have the main socket and Im plugged in to the test socket.
 
Wait a couple of days and then I would ring Sky if nothing changes, they should be able to do something about the SNR and they could put you on a 3.0db SNR profile.

How far can it safely go before it drops? since 7 is the target. I had went 39 days without a drop. Router uptime currently sitting at 1562 hours.

Looks about right, I have the same att as u and get 7.

Iv had mine go to 3 before and still be totally stable, saying that on those rare occasions that happens and i notice it i useually reboot to get it back to 6/7. But if the line is in decent nick, going down low won't be a bother, its only a headache if the line is not good.

Vintage have you called them to see if they can up your speeds at all.

Here is my 5mb capped connection, i asked for it to capped at that, as after much testing it was the fastest stable speed for me, could go faster but would drop out from time to time.

Your Line Attenuation is a lot better then mine, so you should have a fair bit more head room to go on the down/up speeds, especially on the down as your noise margin is so high. Give em a call and ask them to tweak it for the fastest possible speeds.

As that speed to me looks like it was the automated software that set that speed, mine was set to 3.5mb until i rang them and got it tweaked. Its always worth a call.

Ah, I see. The lowest I've had mine go on a freezing hard frosty night is 5.0. It's normally solid 6.0 to 6.4 during the day, 5.9 at the moment. I'm now pushing 68 days uptime for the router.

I phoned them up a few years ago when we still had the netgear router and that was what they set my line up as because anything more it would drop out every 5 mins or so but we do have the new sagem router and they have upgraded the exchange since so will give them another ring and see what happens. Tbh it didnt really bother me too much until I started watching stuff off anytime+ and had to wait 30 - 40 mins for films to start

I have just rang sky, and they say Im on the best profile, and can not change it. And yes first of all. She said they cant change my gaming profile, I have to change it on my console. lol
