My Skyline Project

don't know who he is but I'm the Clarkey that spoke to you on LFS not long ago. Had no idea you were on here.

Ah, hello there :)

save up and build yourself a RB30 :p wont be easy to find a bottom end tho lol

Should be a cool car when finished.

So the bottom end on this RB25 is the same as a RB20DET?..

Pretty much, without the oil squirters that Turbo engines have.

You retro fitting the squirters? Would have thought they'd be pretty essential on a big power turbo engine?

Higher compression too?

All Looks like a lot of work to me, but then I guess it wouldn't be a project without!

Oh and really needs a Supercharged RB30 ;)

And I owned the gen1 RX7 Ian at JDM garage owns (and is trying to sell) a fair while ago! Seems a really nice, genuine bloke. I was 3 owners before, also a member of DW, same forum name.

Why're you turbo'ing a non turbo engine btw? Special plans? It must just be easier to fit a RB25DET in there.

Management, or going to use/piggyback with an RB25DET ECU?

I have to say a four door R32 is a pretty awesome thing, never seen one before. It's almost the perfect get around to convince your missus that you need one because it's practical, old so isn't too flashy and reliable for being jap ;)

The Skyline was just a mundane family car in the land of the rising sun, we only ever hear of the big power versions. It's like them only getting the Sierra Cosworth compared to some of the sewing machine powered ones we got.

Well, I've made my turbo timer fit, into the the lower dash surround. I had to dremel away some of the plastic so it would fit, and make a rear mount so it would stay in place.

Looks awful in the pics, but doesn't look half as bad if you see it properly.

Then made the surround for the front

This has pretty much come to a halt at the moment. The car is still in the bodyshop, so I can't really do anything.

I'm going to pickup my brakes tomorrow, got my headgasket coming, gauges are on order, have new gaskets here. painted up my rocker covers, timing belt cover.

Next main jobs are remove subframe, fit 5 stud hubs, fit diff and driveshafts, fit 5 stud hubs to front, fit new brakes and brake lines.

I'll update with photos as soon as there is anything actually interesting! :p

We've had an R32 here, a RB25DE. Running 400bhp without Oil Squirters and an original standard headgasket for 4 years. Not ideal at all, and it might be something I do add in the future.

Well I popped to the bodyshop to get some progress photos of the quarter panels.

Here they are:

I've also got my gauges, couldn't afford the price of Defi gauges, over £200 per gauge!
So I bought some standard, smoked face, Autogauge Gauges.
