My Intel X25-M 80gb (SSDSA2MH080G2K5) I bought from Overclockers last October has died :( My system went extremely slow, then became unresponsive and after a reboot the drive was no longer detected. I've tried changing the cable, the sata port and reset my CMOS but still nothing. My system has had random blue screens for the last few months, I'm starting to think this is what was causing it despite passing diagnostics tests.

How do I go about finding the warranty and getting it replaced ?

You won't be able to secure erase the SSD if it's not being detected in the BIOS. I would RMA the drive with OcUK as it's still within the first year of purchase.

Intel have shipped me out a replacement already :)

Getting a bit fed up of this slow, clunky mechanical drive i'm currently using.

Think this is only about the first or second Intel drive I've read about dying on here which is pretty good, especially since they seem to have a fast RMA service.

My OCZ SSD died today, need the PC operational pdq so not going to be able to wait for the RMA, less than 6 months old and my first SSD too. PC went in to standby and then wouldn't wake up, hard reset and now the SSD doesn't show in BIOS. Not a happy person today!

I'm quite surprised it died considering I've only ever had one mechanical hdd die on me in 13 years

The problem with SSD drives right now, is they're not fully matured in the way that harddrives are.

....and its for that reason, i'm out :)

Still not sure whether to jump on the SSD bandwagon, heard some horror stories but they may be the exceptions. Dunno. I like to let things mature a while before spending my dosh.

I'm no SSD expert and I've just recently purchased one but I found changing your onboard controller from ACHI to IDE brings the device back up in the BIOS. And have you also tried connecting the SSD to another machine?

Tried it on a different port and different power lead and tried it on a different machine. Tis dead as a dodo. Had to go out and buy a new drive as it was the system drive and have raised a ticket with OCZ. New SSD is sitting happily (for now) where the old one used to live...

As no mentioned of model I take it you got same version as replacement?

Thought you might of received a 320 series instead of G2.

They sent me the same drive, however the Corsair FS3 120gb is on special offer this week so I'm going to see if I can sell it before then, else I'll just keep it.
