Hey guys, I currenty have a Belkin F5D9630-4Av1_UK, its a few years old and has probably seen its best days. However around 12 months ago I removed the bell wire and managed to gain 1.5meg in a instant!, taking me up to a total of 3.4meg.

Now at this time my data rate down was displayed as 3400Kbps, since christmas it has slowly risen month by month and now sits at around 4200, and flirts right up to around 4900 sometimes. I have not seen any increase in speeds test or my overall download speed im still gettin 3.4, and it wont go any higher.

Is this my max limit ? would a new router help/improve my line speeds?

These are my current stats:

down / up

Data rate (Kbps) 4256 / 448

Noise margin (dB) 6.0 / 21.0

Output power (dBm) 18.8 / 11.8

Attenuation (dB) 47.0 / 28.0

On ADSL MAX (AFAIK) around 1.5 miles from the exchange

Looks fine to me, a sync of 4256 gives you a an IP profile of 3500.

You'd need to sync over 4544 for a few days (could take longer) to raise the IP profile to 4000.

I have very similar stats to you, I'm 48db attenuation, I hold the 4544 profile with the Netgear DG834gt + I am 3.2 miles from my exchange. (rural area)

Sounds like you may have a either a long line from the exchange OR its run with aluminium wire and not copper.

I would check your local exchange on SamKnows and see if its ADSL2+ enabled. If it is then you may be able to get a little bit more speed if your line is COPPER but not with Ally as its not really good with the high bandwidth ADSL2+ signals, suffers too much on attenuation at the higher tones the modem uses.

I have a line attenuation of 46.2db and line length is approx 3.5km from exchange, its a BT Business package I have and I am getting sync speeds of 7000kbps Down and 1100kbps Up. Router is 2wire's 2701

Would a newer router help me reach that kind of sync rate?

Sam knows says my exchange has ADSL and ADSL MAX available, evrything else is not.

Im def no more then 2 miles from my exhange, I know where it is.

I just put your line attenuation into KITZ calculator and if the line is PERFECT you could get a speed of 5536kbps download and because your on ADSLMAX then highest upload speed will be 448kbps.

Your line length with those figures are approx 3.4km long.

thank you for looking that up, handly little tool that.

So your saying i should be able to get some improvement some where ?

BTW, ive reset my router and its now showing 4960 has been for 3 hours hope its holds this time longer enough for my profile to be raised, thanks for all those that have helped.

Looking at your stats and being on MAXADSL I think your getting the best sync speed possible. you wont really get any better unless BTW 21CN enable your exchange or you go to a LLU service that offers ADSL2+ at your exchange.

Just see how it holds up with the noise margin.

there is no LLU services at my exchange and 21cn doesnt look to be coming anytime soon. I shall stick with this router unitil it gives up ghost.
