They contact me a few minutes ago and offered me this upgrade over my current w800i:

A free SE W880i;
Basically the Flex 35 offer without the free evening and weekend calls but they give 25% off each month, so I'll be paying £26.25 a month for £180 worth of call/text/MMS

What do you think? Good deal to stay on with T-Mobile or do you know somewhere else giving a better deal?

Also, I really like the w880i except people kept saying "it gets hot" after calling for a period of time - anyone can confirm that?

Thanks :)

Flext is the best priceplan of any network imho. T-Mobile have always delivered excellent customer service to me, and their coverage is good.

With the 25% off, and with you getting the £180 allowance each month, I think you will be hard pressed to find a better offer anywhere else.

Not sure about the phone though tbh as I am not a fan of Sony Ericssons!

Thanks - I've been looking for a new contract and today T-Mobile called, so I told them about Dotmobile.com which is for student - they are very well priced but T-Mobile counter offered with the mentioned above.

If I can't find any before 6pm today when they call, I'll grab that offer.

I like S.E phones, and they sync with my mac as well, so I'd like to stick to it, if not the w880i (for a valid reason), what others would you suggest?

Thanks :)

I personally do not like this particular phone, although I am an SE fan (I have had a K750i and have a K810i now). I find the keypad on the W880i very difficult to use. Also, whilst the camera is 2MP, it has no auto-focus and no macro mode.

So before you go and get one, make sure you try one 'in the flesh' as it were, if you haven't already.

I heard good things about the W880i, not actually used one in person though for a long period of time.

As for camera capabilities its not the best in the lineup because thats what the cybershot phones are for, however I do like the styling and the music player is good from the brief use I had with it.

My GF is currently looking for a new phone and the W880i is the one for her. Overall, me and her think its a very good phone.

Thanks guys,
After some thinking on the phone's camera functionality - I think I'll go for it.

I don't mind the lack of flash and autofocus, I only do random snaps and my Fuji F30 is always in my backpack. I've tried the phone for a brief 10 minutes at CPWH and it feels alright, even for texting, my fingers are abit slender so.. :P

Have anyone had any "hot phone" issue? Many have left reviews that theirs became "really hot" after long phone calls...

Also, what about this supposedly "auto turn off"? Some have reported it turns off it self, is it sorted?

Thanks :)

I phoned orange and got what sounds like a cracking deal.

600 any network anytime minutes, unlimited text messages and 3 special numbers to call free anytime. a Nokia 6300 for £25 a month instead of £35 :D

Wow Dave, your deal sounds good but I personally don't like using Nokia (since colour screens were introduced) and Orange have a tendency of labeling all their phones with orange - eventho that deal sounds real sweet.

I've spoken with T-Mobile and all is a go.

I'll get my W880i tomorrow with that contract. Sounds brilliant.
Will try that phone and if I really don't like it, I always have the distance selling act to change for something else.

Will review on that phone soon - this forum seem to lack personal phone use/review...

Yeh to be honest the only reason I got such a great deal was I didnt take a fancy phone :p

Although I have to admit the nokia 6300 is very slim and I love the metal finish. I doubt I would have got the same deal if I asked for an N95

I did the same as you, phoned the orange upgrade team up saying I had seen another deal on the Carphone Warehouse site and was thinking about changing network. I got offered a decent deal from the first person I spoke to but they weren’t giving me the phone I wanted (w880i) so I said no. Got put through to another woman who offered me 600 any network/time minutes, unlimited text and a free W880i for £25 a month. I was well chuffed!

It's definitely T-Mobile, plus, they're the only one so far, that can give straight discount off the contract than "rebates".

I'm still playing with my w880i.
Such a good phone.
It's so thin, yet feature packed...

T-Mobile is indeed efficient (along with Royal mail)
Ordered at 7pm Tuesday evening, got the phone at 7:15am on Wednesday morning.

ah thinking about it, iirc t-mob were the first one to stop 3rd party companies selling for them, or atleast they were planning to!

Those 3 special numbers are Magic Numbers, they have to be a orange number and you can add one every 6 months of your 18 month Orange contract.

If trying to get a upgrade from any company directly (as in you phone them that way you know it's them and not a third party dealer who will just say anything to get commission), always and always reject the first offer and any offer the first person has to offer, they work for the upgrades team and can only offer you normal contracts.
If that happens they should then transfer you call to the retentions department (or disconnections), they ask you why you want to leave etc etc and they have the power and will always offer customers at the end of the contract better deals than what normal upgrades can.
