My turn for a tyre thread

PS3's are not the succesor to PS2 everyone thinks they are and seem pretty mediocre in reviews.

Probably better off with CS3's.

Clio 182

I drive it properly.

There isn't a set limit on price as such, but I consider the £145 a corner for the last few remaining PE2s to be too much.

Around £100 would be nice.

Assuming its for the 182, i'd go for the PS3s as they are the replacement for the PE2 in that size. People on Cliosport.net seem to like the Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 which are fairly cheap.

As someone who is debating whether to get these I really do not think they are suitable for a everyday car.

They are fine for everyday use but I would advice caution in winter when its close to freezing.

Apart from that they transform cars handling :)

I keep hearing V12s mentioned, but have heard nothing but bad things RE the RS2s. If the track orientated tyre sucks, what hope does the summer tyre have?

AD08s are a little extreme for daily use :)

I'm sure they do, actually I know they do. But a compromise has to be made and I think their wet/winter performance is too compromised for a daily.

You need R1Rs.

Guys who I know who have had R1R's and AD08's preferre the AD08 mainly due to its stiffer sidewall and also said the AD08 gave better wet performance and also lasted longer.

Still a good tyre, but AD08 seems better in everyway, R888 however is exceptional but is quite poor in the wet.

I found the AD08's superb even in the wet, they worked superb and tend to last circa 8000 miles and thats on heavier cars, should last longer on something light. :)

I've not tried the AD08s, but they are supposed to be ridiculously heavy wearing aren't they? Or was that the 48s?

I had a VX220 on R1Rs for a week and it was sublime wet or dry. In the dry there was no understeer and no real oversteer without provocation - the only way I can describe it is thoroughly planted and balanced.

I'm actually half tempted by the R1R for the clio at £110 a corner, but feel that something too sticky would ruin the car - it doesn't suffer massively at the front as it is, but it really benefits from a bit of "fluidity" at the rear. Plus it's a bit of a waste for running up and down the M27 5 days a week.

I'd probably go PS3, as said they are the replacement for the PE2 which were one of the best tyres on these cars.

Oh God, don't. Was just reading a thread on PH where some guy had done a conversion from a 645ci to an M6. It was missing a few things to make it 100% look-a-like, but nonetheless, it looked very nice...

Then i saw the photos of the Brembo stick on covers on his brakes and a pair of Nankangs on the rear. Queue him spending the next page or so saying how good Nankangs were and how everyone he had spoken to had said they were great, that they are OEM fitment to many cars these days so they must be amazing and that he's not going to fit "premium" tyres just to fit in and be cool.

It was painful - he must have spent thousands on the genuine M6 front and rear bumpers (+painting) and M6 (probably replica) alloys, not to mention £15k on the car. Yet spending another £250 for a pair of Bridgestones to match his fronts was a "OMG I'M NOT MADE OF MONEY YOU KNOW! YOU'RE ALL SUCH SNOBS, WE'RE ALL NOT AS RICH AS YOU AND HAVE GOT DIFFERENT PRIORITIES!!111".

Made me sad :(
