The 3gig Palit is £429, the Gainward though is the 1 priced at £499.

The Palit would be cheaper than the Lightning, but the Lightning will probably overclock better, urgh what a chore.

If budget isn't an issue then the 6990 seems awesome.

Or for a sensible budget go for 6950's, flash to 6970 and crossfire for insane performance for a great price!

Im running sli 570 sonic platinum's on a 850w hx running crysis 2 a dream on extreme settings. although the gpu's get hot hot hot!!!!!

tbh there's not a lot that a 580 at stock speeds can't munch for breakfast...no real need to OC the gpu

To be honest at that res i wouldn;t recommend crossfire or SLI. The gameplay will be less smooth and temps will be higher for very little gain in performance over a single card.

A 580 should tear through everything you need at that res. You can then OC later down the line when you need to.

If you want AMD, then a 6950 rev1 unlocked to 6970 is probably best bang for buck. The extra VRAM will help later down the line as well.
