Hey Guys,

I took a rather big step the other day and decided on water cooling my rig with 2 loops, what I'm going to cool with these two loops I do not know yet?! **Obviously CPU ;) ** (Other suggestions welcome)

I currently have an Akasa Eclipse 62 case, and I am planning on modding the case so it is suitable for my water cooling setup!

As this is my first post on this thread, I can safely say this is just a brief post. A much for in depth post is on the way! :D

I will post some pictures up of how my system currently looks tomorrow and I will fill you in with more detail on my project plans!

Thanks for looking,

-Matt

Hey,

Well I've been doing a lot of thinking recently and I think I'm going to drop the second loop as I can't find anything to cool with it! I could cool my GFX, but I can't afford it as I have "SLI on a stick"(7950 GX2) and the water block are £80-£120.

So at the moment I have one loop on the way to me, with a 120.1 rad and all the other parts. However Im thinking shall I change the 120.1 rad for 120.2 rad for better performance? But that means possibly having to mod my case so that it is suitable for the rad, I just don't want to take the risk of wrecking a perfect condition Akasa Eclipse! I have thought about a Radbox but I have seen a lot of cases where the Radbox bends, which in my eyes is just a waste of money!

Last night I did a bit of rearranging in my case with cables etc, to make more room IF I choose to put the water cooling into my case. I have however just purchased a new PSU, which is modular as my current PSU isn't. I am hoping that this will benefit me for being able to have a very cable tidy case :)

Going back to dropping my second loop, the money I have left over spare I don't want it to be sat in the bank not benefiting me! So If anyone has any ideas on what I could use this £90 for please do let me know ;)

I have some pics finally!

Where the HD rack is ment to be I intend to put the rad and stuff. Please excuse my wonky fan!

I will update you soon, when the water cooling turns up!

Nice tidy set up Matt! Just concentrate on the cpu cooling as you say.

I suppose to add to the quiet of the watercooling you could always get a silent HDD enclosure. They'll probably be the loudest thing in the case by the time you put the loop in.

Are you still using the Pentium D or do you have a C2D now. I've just sold my e2160 which did 3ghz easy (from 1.8ghz stock) - that could be a cheap (got mine brand new for £50 delivered) yet very effective upgrade.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the comments! Im going to stick with the Pentium D atm, the piggy bank is running dry .

GOOD NEWS!

Around 15 mins ago my water cooling arrived! Wooo

Now I can start my project!!

Bad News!!

I can't attach the fan to the rad :( I don't no what screws to use!! Or if I have any! lol

HELPP!

Right well,

I've been playing around with the water cooling for the last 2 hours just messing on etc.. Trying to get the hang and playing stop the gurgle! :p

I have fitted the rad in place and have found a place for the res! However I am not very sure on whether the res will work where I have put it?

The pump which came with the setup uses a mains lead for power, so I am going to have to adatp the case to the pumps needs. Which wont be hard :)

I've got to start looking round for a water block as the water block which came with the setup is not suitable for 775? So Im thinking maybe, Swiftech or D-tek Fuzion. What would you go for?

Anyway time for pics now!

(Sorry for the poor quality of pictures, just goes to show the N95 camera isn't as good as they say!)

So what do you think about the res, will it work or not?

Possible updates later on today, just need to have a bit of guidance on how everything pops into place and what order etc.. as this my first water cooling setup!

Also could someone recommend me some coolant?

Thanks for reading!

 Just thought of a question..

How would I fill the res put it on it's side and not let the coolant get out?

fill the loop outside the case, you'll want to leak test first anyway.

that or add a fill port, ie a t-junction, with some pipe coming off, which you can either drill a hole in the top of the case, and fit a fillport like the danger den ones to, or leave it hidden inside the case

edit:some of the other members use fillports, maybe they could provide a pic...

can see one clearly in this pic, it needn't be that long, and as i say the fillport can be kept inside to avoid cutting :p

it doesnt matter where the t is,as long as its before the inlet on the pump(in other words, that t on that pic is to close ) also try and make it high up as it will help filling/bleeding as air rises and it will eventually end up in there. pic of what i mean lol

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the comments!

Just wondering which order everything goes in e.g. Pump ===> Res etc

Would be very greatful if you could help a noob out :p

Right well,

I've sorted nearly everything out now apart from the CPU water block.. as I don't have one!

I'll post some pictures up of it all later on, however I have to say I think it looks rather good!

However, I am going to water cooling but I still have 8x 120mm fans in my case!!

Any suggestions on the best CPU Block to go for?

Thanks,

Matt.
