My XBOX live account has been hacked.

my wee bro (14) told me some guy in his class got IF Drogba, one had sold on ebay for £90. he then sold it to a classmate for £40.

i was like what a retard, he could have made £90 instead of £40, or sold it on psn for like 3 million coins or whatever he was worth at the time (ps3 pricing). then sold the 3 million coins on ebay, think you get £10 for 100,000 coins, thats essentially £300.

the kid walked away with a bargain for £40.

its not easy to sell virtual items/mmo accounts theres 100 scammers for every legit buyer.

I worked in the Card Fraud department of a bank for 4 years - I know all to well the problems it can cause :(

Just seems pointless to do if you dont benefit, I understood the Live system was pretty weak in terms of address checks meaning you could often assign stolen card details to your account and spam it for your own gain.

Just don't understand what the fraudster would get out of adding money from someone else card to their account; seems really odd thing to do?!

If they already have the Xbox Live details then they can easily change the E-mail address / password associated on the account, once they've added a load of Microsoft Points they can then change the gamertag and sell the XBL account on one of the Chinese Ebay type sites.

I think so, I don't use the XBOX ...just the kids.

Thanks. P.C gaming all the way for me ;)

I think It's the XBOX account that was hacked, no other transactions of a suspicious nature have gone out.

Maybe they bought a shed load of points to sell on?. Pretty sad really.

How much are the points anyway?. I assume 500 for £4.25?.

Edit, I forgot to mention that there were 6 more payments pending (according to my bank) before they killed my debit card.

If you can still log in to your Xbox Live account, go to xbox.com, sign in, then go to My Xbox => Accounts => Download History.

Here, you can see every download on the Xbox, Do you have a balance of MS points on the account? Or have they all been spent? You can also go to the "Microsoft Billing Website", here it shows you every financial transaction on the account too.

Are you definitely sure your kids have not just been a little naughty and gone crazy with the account?

Hope this helps!

Dave

I've just checked the history and there are only 2 purchases for FIFA....so it's not the kids. Also the account has had no activity for the past month.

Do you have just the one Xbox Live account then? As if you have multiple accounts you will need to do the same for each account.

What do they show up as on the statement as? I.e does it say Microsoft or specifically the same as when you last bought points?
