Myspace et al

I think blitz2163 was talking generally rather than specifically about your class, you can mess around in class (particularly in school ar GCSE/standard grade level) and still walk away with the top grades. I know I wasn't paying attention in about half the classes and still did alright at that level. :)
Explained it better than i did, but yep thats what i was getting at :)

I apologise for the mistake.

But my point is that these people are messing about on these websites in a lesson where virtually nobody in the class is doing well.

I could probably get an "alright" grade if I didn't revise for some things, but that lesson is particularly difficult in terms of coursework. (You need 60% for a C grade, whereas in other subjects it tends to be less than 50% [depending on the tier of exam you are taking]).

No problem mate :)
but yea i see where your coming from we could get away with it in our GCSE and AVCE I.C.T lessons because we all found it quite easy anyway, but i suppose if their already struggling its not the best idea.

Facebook seems to work rather well. I;ve only been on there a few weeks but quite like it. It's simple and effective. Doesnt let people customise their pages and add stupid sounds and video clips etc. Fast and easy to navigate.

i use both myspace and facebook. i've found a few good people on myspace and got back in touch with people i've lost contact with.

i haven't really got into facebook yet, i'm only signed up because i got persuaded by a friend:p

It makes me worried when I read these threads, how many people use these websites.

I stay away from them, Myspace is like attentionspace and the rest, I don't know really.

That and if I need to go out with my friends, I kinda..asked them.
I don't understand this 'social calender' thing :p

It's almost as if people have become dependant on it.
I have to give it a go one day just to see but the thing about it emailing every one my msn contact list turns me off, I don't want it to do that.
I hope there's an option not to.

I understand some reasons.
Also I know the second I make one, my friends will find it and make fun ;D

of course there's the option not to.

On the social calendar etc. If you're having a flat party, could you really be bothered to send texts or phone everyone you want to be there? If I was doing that I'd just create an event on facebook and tick all the people invited, it'd start a little group about it, invite everyone, collect people's replies (attending/maybe/not/no reply) and have a little discussion board about it. it's dead simple and it's free.

edit:example

if it worries you that people are using things like MySpace, Facebook etc. why are you active on these forums? it's the same sort of thing, no?

i use myspace to keep in touch with people at home and see what theyve been up to and use facebook to keep up with whats happening/happened/been caught on camera at uni

Can't stand Myspace, far too cluttered, Facebook all the way for me, it just works so well, and highly useful for organising uni social stuff as pretty much everybody I know at uni has or lives with somebody that uses Facebook.

I hate all social networking sites, just a tool to help people inflate their egos. HOWEVER I have recently succumbed to facebook, because I think it's slightly different as its not their to allow you to talk about how cool and misunderstood you are and how you listen to 546564 different bands, its mainly about sharing pics from last night and organising events easily which is cool.
