Mysterious hard disk space aquisition!

But the strangest thing I've noticed now is that a few days ago I had 13 GB free on my hard disk and now I've got 18.5 GB free, and I haven't deleted anything! I can't see that anything has disappeard either.

Have scanned with PCcillin, Ad-aware, and A-squared and found nothing.

you haven't emptied your recycling bin have you ?
 
I had a clear out of things the other day, and I'm 99% sure I emptied my recycle bin then, but then I KNOW I emptied it yesterday after unintalling a small program, so now that 1% doubt is nagging at me!

So if I didn't empty it after I cleared things out, then that would just make me look, well, sort of dumb.
