N00b question incoming...

I know to some this will seem like an epic n00b thing to ask. But I just wanted to make sure before I go ahead and take the plunge.

I have a Creative SB Z soundcard in my gaming PC. But I bought the Roccat Kave XTD digital headset recently. Because this uses the USB port on my machine, does this mean I no longer need the soundcard itself? The headset does have its own soundcard built-in too. I've never used a USB only headset before.

USB uses its own sound im afraid as i found out when i moved to usb headphones

As above. USB devices have their own sound processing. Anything that isn't directly plugged into the sound card will not use it.
