Hey guys! Expecting an MSI 970 to show up tomorrow

Currently have amd 6950s so whats the process to change them over? Im guessing uninstall the amd driver package, turn off, swap cards, fire it up and install nVidia drivers?

or is there more to it? I only ask as i only get new graphics cards as part of a full build in the past, never really changed them in and out of the same system?

I imagine i dont need to mess with bios etc? Never updated that but wouldnt know how :)

Thanks

No bios changes at all and do exactly as you said making sure no and stuff is left and you should be fine.

I've just gone from a HD7950 to a GTX980 today, uninstalling the AMD drivers still left quite a bit of detritus behind so I booted into safe mode and ran Display Driver Uninstaller to make sure, all up and running perfectly now.

Exactly like what you have said. Just make sure you get rid of all the AMD drivers
Enjoy your new card!

Although you normally dont have to update your Motherboard bios with a graphics card change, with the 9 series gpu`s you may have to depending on motherboard age/bios version. If your system appears to hang when starting up or takes 3 or 4 minutes to boot into windows its likely you will need to update the motherboard bios.

Not sure why this is the case to be honest but i had to do exactly that when i originally got my Gtx 970`s.By the way my motherboard was a gigabyte X79-UP4,cant remember what bios version i was running, but an update cured it.
