After reading the goldeneye thread i decided to set up my N64 and play some of my old games, problem is i cant seem to get a signal through to my tv. when the aerial cable is connected, the 'vcr' channel on my tv goes from static to black, so obviously something is happening, but the screen just stays black, and goes back to static if i turn the console off.

Ive tried a couple different games in it, and even no game in it, and it still just has a black screen. Ive also tried tunning through all the possible channels and nothing has come up.

Is my console dead? or am i just doing something wrong (been years since i played on my n64).

Edit: also if i cant get my n64 working and decide to buy the games on the Wii virtual console, will the wiimote work for n64 games? ive been told that to use the n64 games on the wii, a gamecube controller is required.

It may just need a good clean, connectors etc. Have you tried tuning it to different channels? If you have a gamecube, try using the composite connection and plug it into your n64.

If tuning is all ok, and you switch it to a channel, look carefully at the black screen to see if it does a kind of pulsing thing.(hard to explain but you'll know what i mean)

The n64 is pretty sturdy so i'm guessing it's only needing a damn good clean.

:)

EDIT: You can use the gamecube or the classic controller for wii n64 games. Or if your handy at PIC programming you could make a circuit to use your n64 controller as a GC controller.
