N80 unlocking

thinking of buying a 2nd hand N80...can these be unlocked on the high street, or only through the network operator of the phone ?

same goes for the N80 on 3

I believe they can only be unlocked by the operator. They've got a new security system I think that makes it "impossible" to unlock another way.

I heard a lot of people were getting 2nd hand ones unlocked by buying the correct prepay card to use with the phone, registering the phone with that card and then phoning up the company to get the unlocking code which costs about £20. You might need to know the original phone number the handset was registered to.
