N95 Battery Issue

My N95 seems to have a problem with the battery.

I charged it up monday night, made a phonecall for 30 minutes and left it on the desk (it was full), this was about 12am. At 7am my phone woke me up with its alarm (went off for about 10 seconds) and my girlfriend phoned me for 5 minutes. I then went up to london for an hour exam, during which time the battery was removed from the phone. When I got on the train at 11:36 the battery read one bar under full. By the time I got home after doing nothing with it it read 2 bars.

I charged it up again and didn't use it but last night I plugged it in before I went to bed. I have made a single call of about 20 minutes today and its now reading 1 bar above empty.

Surely this isn't right? I'm sure it used to last longer, is there anything I can do? I have checked and theres nothing running in the background.

The original N95 battery truly sucked...surely you would have read the many posts littered around on the net about it. But to me it sounds like your battery is knackered...best to buy a replacement really.

why did you take the battery out of the phone instead of putting it in offline or just turning it off.

the battery life of my n95 is just fine. i go 2 or 3 days without charging it unless i rape the wifi.

I had an exam and was paranoid I was going to knock the bag it was in under my desk and it would turn on.

Just got given an N95 the other day and the battery lasts for a day at most, I assume I need a new one. Is it worth buying the 3000MAH ones instead of a normal one?

I would be interested to found this out aswell...

My N95 lasts for a while...but thats if i dont use it

i found a 40 minute phone call dropped the battery by 2 bars. But if i user either Wifi or GPS i dont hold my breath for phone lasting much longer.

You guys are all running the latest firmware right? Battery life has improved a lot.

Im running mine on the latest. Im on T-Mobile, we always seem to get the latest firmware quite late. So not sure if my firmware is the one to improve the battery life, but will do some research now.

My version is 12.0.013

classic? or 8gb? latest classic firmware is v21.0.016 i think

Im on classic, wish i could get that firmware, T-Mobile tariff suited me really well, but having to wait ages for firmware is a pain sometimes.

lastest firmware for n95 classic is v21.006 battary life much inproved even running in dual mode. as for gettin the new firmware debrand your n95 "google it" install nokia nsu and update to firmware v21

I was considering doing this a while back so that i could get the 1st firmware so that GPS would work. I would debrand it instantly, however im just worried if it will cause problems with T-Mobile, such as warranty etc

Nah, I wouldn't worry about it. I debranded my phone with O2 then had to send it back. They just re-branded it and put their latest firmware on. (rather then the actual latest firmware).

My N95 8Gb has a great battery, so I think theres something wrong with yours definately

The battery life was pants to begin with, firmware improved it slightly, but compared to a decent battery its still not on par. The newer N95 sways the balance a little, but I still think my E51 will out last it anyway

My N95 battery lasts a few days.... but certainly not with intensive use. BUT it charges in <30mins. So I can't complain.

i've had problems leaving my phone on charge overnight.
sometimes in the morning the battery has been flat. like it sucked the charge back out.
but i was using a usb charger from my pc so that might have been the reason.

also i would be seriously skeptical of the 'high' capacity batteries you see on ebay. i've bought some of those before and they were terrible. a lot worse than the nokia batteries. you will notice that they often say something like 1500 mah maximum. ie, they might go up to a maximum of 1500 mah (but not bloody likely)

so yeah basically they are a con.

If there were such high capacity batteries reliably available nokia would using them to save face with the whole battery farce that is the n95.

well, yes. but there are higher capacity batteries available. they didnt have to use 950mAh 3.7v batteries, did they? the iphone uses a 1400mAh 3.7v battery.
