Hi All,

I am at my wits end.

I am trying to find out why I can't retrieve messages using my N95.

Can someone explain to me in idiots terms how I set the thing up?

I can send fine, but receiving? I really can't make it work :-(

A list of instructions or a pointer to a useful web site would be a great help,

Thanks

Gary

my old nokia 5610Xpressmusic set up my gmail account for me on my phone with the correct servers and everything. all i had to do was put my email in. what account have you got?

I am trying to set up the blahblah account at O2.co.uk :-(

As an update, Neither O2 support or an O2 shop have been able to sort things out yet ggrrrrr

I've set the access point, run the email wizard umpteen times and still no joy!

Getting a bit miffed to tell the truth :-)

have you got the proper pop server info? including the port it should run on?
can you receive mail from that account using outlook or something on a PC?

Email address: [email protected] .... Outgoing mail server: mail.o2.co.uk .... User name: [email protected] .... Password: whatever .... Incoming mail server: mail.o2.co.uk .... Mailbox type: POP3 .... Security: Off .... APOP Secure login: Off

Are those the settings you're using?

Thats the contract settings, i think it may vary if you're on pay and go, if it is possible at all? Been a while but I'm sure PAG o2 sims couldn't receive them without altering the settings.

EDIT: This may seem daft but are you with o2? Cos I'm sure that network specific emails are only available to that network? I could be wrong though. its been a while since I used o2 email.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the input, nice one in particular, Derek, I was able to check things and eventually sorted out the problem....

In trying to help, O2online reset my password to the digit 1.

Okay, but.... such a short password is illegal in O2 terms, as you can't log on to their web site with it or... their email server.

Oh and emails from the O2 accounts can be sent to any address, I have tested :-)

Doh!

All working now :-)

Merry Xmas!

using 3rd party apps like profimail and I forget the other good one which will accept hotmail are available and relatively simple to set up. But then again if i need to send / receive email on the hoof I just log onto the website in default browser or with opera since you can do everything you can from a pc :)
