Just got an N95 and when I text I just have the old fashioned : ) instead of :)

Am I missing something really obvious but how do I enable them?

Wow, I can't believe that a phone like the N95 doesn't support something that the average £10 PAYG phone does!!

Depends on the manufacturer i would have thought. My old SE phone supported them but my last 2 Nokias haven't, if anyone can remember the name or knows of a app please post, i wouldn't mind having them on again.

IT's not like they won't understand what : ) means. I don't like the smileys on my phone and on instant messaging services anyway.

the 6230i did. anyway since nobody else has bothered looking, the first name that came up on google was a-sms. its supposed to only work in hong kong or something, but no harm in trying it.

I did look and the only ones i found was the a-sms from Nokia, but wasn't sure about the Hong Kong thing. The other one was myasms, you have to pay for it but a 2 day trial is available. But everytime i've tried downloading it, it kept stopping. If u get a-sms down james let us know what its like please mate.

Link for myasms http://www.myasms.net/index.php

you can still use : ) even if your phone does not support it. when you text your friends which have phones that support smileys then it will come out as:) on their phones :D
