Nagging issues, upgrade required?

Morning folks,

I'm currently mid upgrade process, i'm still rocking my i5 2500k, and i've just upgraded to a 1070, gaming isn't an issue, but i still feel my system is laggy in general, which is odd, for instance installing games from a dvd, my system comes to a standstill, and if i'm listening to music, that becomes distorted etc, which makes me think me ram might be on the way out, though i've tried memtest and all seems good.

i do get the occasional stutter with gaming but i'm not sure if they're all related or not.

any ideas?
Cheers!

Re: windows lagginess, I've also had this in the past and found that some USB peripherals tend to make the PC lag or lock up occasionally. My T2UH is a prime example. Wish I'd stayed with Windows 7. :(

You might find your problems are a driver issue - sound distorting or breaking up sounds like something interrupt-related? Do you have an Asus card?

Interested to see what kind of gains you saw with the 1070 as I'm about to do the same thing (although maybe 1080).

I'm on holiday from tomorrow night so I plan on going through everything with a fine tooth comb, it's an MSI card I'm using, went from an r9 280x to the 1070 so the difference was incredible, had a shot of gears remastered at 4K and it looks stunning
