French toast here too in Bangor. The secret is to have a fairly hot pan, real butter and dont leave the bread dipped in the egg/milk/sugar mix, cook it until its golden brown znd wipe the pan between slices.
Tomato/brown sauce or farmhouse pickle and its really tasty. Eggy bread makes it sound like soggy raw slop.
