Name that Adventure Game!

Merlin5 · 28 Nov 2010 at 18:26

Don't know if this will take off, but based on the screenshot in the hi res thread for the classic old point 'n click adventure 'Normality' , there are obviously some fellow point 'n click fans here. So the idea is to post a screenshot of a pure point 'n click adventure, and whoever names it correctly posts the next screenshot. Here we go then, this should be a pretty easy one to start off.

Machinarium. Give us 2 ticks to host one.

Nice idea btw.

Merlin5 · 28 Nov 2010 at 18:31

orderoftheflame, you are correct sir. Yes it's your turn.

orderoftheflame · 28 Nov 2010 at 18:39

Shouldn't be too hard for people of the adventure gaming generation.

Merlin5 · 28 Nov 2010 at 18:42

Hmm, I sort of recognise the faces but can't place it. Definitely not one I've played.

Metatron · 28 Nov 2010 at 18:43

The Dig?

Also how accurate was that technology prediction? Looks exactly like a modern phone.

overclick · 28 Nov 2010 at 19:01

yeah pretty sure that is the Dig, I actually gave the game a quick go about 4 months ago (missed out on it originally) and that certainly looks akin to the comms units.

Stayed up until 3am last night finishing Machinarium as it happens.

davewhite04 · 28 Nov 2010 at 19:01

Yep, it's the Dig, it is amazing prediction phone wise.

I tell you, George Lucas is no mug!

Merlin5 · 28 Nov 2010 at 19:04

Heh, I DID play thae dig years ago, couldn't place it though. WP Metatron.

tbh you didn't miss that much not playing the Dig through, it was one of the weaker and shorter games coming out of Lucas Arts legendary adventure machine in the 90s.

My opinion that is.

orderoftheflame · 28 Nov 2010 at 19:18

Yep, as everyone's confirmed it's The Dig.

I find it very enjoyable to play actually, though it does get overshadowed by some of the giants from the same time.

What's next?

davewhite04 · 28 Nov 2010 at 19:31

I'll come back tomorrow

orderoftheflame · 28 Nov 2010 at 19:34

That's an easy one, but I'll let someone else have a chance first.

hmmm looks like I have an arch enemy on the knowledge of classic adventure gaming

Merlin5 · 28 Nov 2010 at 19:46

I know that one too, but a word of advice. Renaming the screenshots is pretty important *hint hint*
