NAME these CPU's please!

The socket 775 CPU is a prescott 3.4
Last of the line so by far the younger of the 2

The second CPU is a P4 2.8 Northwood Socket 478
This was probably purchased in 2002/2003
The code you cant read is SL6K6

If you were to ebay them the northie would attract the most interest.

Blast from the past or what :p I still have a pentium 4 hanging around somewhere, I think it was a socket 478 but not sure. I think one of the pins is broken off now so it isn't much use.

I cant remember what playform or chipset i played diablo on lol, something abit older than these i think abd it was sluggish. Funny thing is, if i try running an old game now on my current setup.. It proba won't even launch lol due to unsupported drivers and hardware haha

None of them are socket 478, i had a couple of 478 P4 HT's.

They both look like LGA sockets to me. I don't think they are prescott's either as my motherboard was prescott ready (MSI 478 pins) way back in 2001 / 2002, i think, these are later than that.

So which board do they fit in? I might try and flog them on here or the fleabay. B

Especially if the second can pick up some money. Trouble is i have no idea if they work or not.

The first Pentium 4 is definitely lga775 cpu as all lga 775 cpus have same physical design. Here is pic of my Q9650 which is same design as first P4. Not sure about 2nd P4 though.

Have you counted the contact studs? :D

No seriously, why don't you just google the model code from the chip, we can't see it because of the reflection.

I thought this was a game.

My XP machine is still rocking with a P4 3.0ghz hyperthreader & 2gb ram. Could use a reinstall as the mrs has clogged it up with the Sims 2 and other junk.

I think the other might be socket 478, if that's a 533MHZ FSB on the P4 it could be from the RDRAM era 478, as opposed DDR.

I could be wrong, I'm not good with older stuff.

RDRAM was very early in the day, when P4s used socket 428. RDRam never got to sensible price point and P4s went over to SDRam for a while before going DDR.
