Name your best & Worst hardware

Best: MX518 mouse - couldn't work or game comfortably without it.
Worst: Altec Lansing VS-3151 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers - buzz like ****.

best: macbook pro, opteron 148 (did 3.07 ghz proudly), or the old e8200 i sold a few months ago

worst: urm... my old sun crt monitor in my loft as it never could get to a standard resolution which always confused things

Best: HP w2408h screen - love the look of it and the only glossy screen I could find anywhere

Worst: Abit AB9 mobo - inexplicably shipped with a bios that didn't recognise IDE DVD drives, and blue screened when trying to install Windows from one....took me a week to fix that and when I did the the POS wouldn't pass 350mhz FSB, so almost a total waste of money.

Best: Hazro HZ24Wi 24" H-IPS monitor on an Ergotron arm.
I sweated blood and shed tears by going through countless 24" screens before getting this monitor and then another 6 months of "beta testing" along with a few other guys here for Hazro before a firmware update fixed the bugs we found.
I'm so picky lol but this is nigh on perfect for picture quality (photo editing), movies (fast motion) and gaming.

Worst: Q9550 processor
It only overclocks to 3.7GHz stable with my configuration :(

best hardware: Q6600

worst hardware: IDE Dvd drive

best peripheral: Logitec Mx Revolution (RIP :()

worst peripheral: Saitek Cyborg Mouse (in a draw)

What happened to you MX? I've had had mine, and an MX revo and MX5500 keyboard and mouse set replaced, they have 3 year warranties if you didn't know.

They didn't even want to take the old stuff either, so I've got a secondary MX5500 keyboard for my other PC that works well enough.

(main issue was the Bluetooth reciever not working properly, and the mouse practically not working at all except for the tracking and the thumbwheel).

 :D

Best: 8800GTX longest life graphics card I can remember, it took 2 years or so for them to come up with something substantially better. As far as all time best hardware goes, this wins by miles.

Close second: DFI NF4 Lanparty Extreme, man this board was awesome in the days where 3GHz was really a difficult target.

Worst: PhysX cards, they were overpriced and useless originally, now its nvidia owned graphics cards will process it!

Close second Killer Nic, not for its performance as it actually is a decent product, it just fails due to its silly price.

Did you actually buy a Killer NIC?

Best hardware is my benq fp241w 24"lcd, worst is my ageing logitech g5 mouse (will be fine when its replaced) the rest of my spec is ok. Well until i get an ssd.

Best hardware: Tyan K8WE. Probably the best motherboard I've ever owned. It was dual S940 and had 8 DIMMs, 2 PCI-E, 3 PCI-X, 2 GbE and SATA 3Gbit/s. It cost over £300 but it was worth it for all that power.

Worst hardware: Every gigabyte product I've ever owned. Two S939 motherboards and a GTX 275; the boards were extremely poor quality and broke after a few months, the GTX 275 was DOA. Fortunately I was able to return it and get a BFG GTX 275.

Best peripheral: Dell 3007WFP

Honourable mention for most disapointing purchase: Raon Digital Vega UMPC. I foolishly purchased this first generation Ultra-Mobile PC without really investigating the specs. It had no integrated 802.11 or bluetooth, so you were forced to have a USB adapter sticking out of either the top or side USB port. The graphics adapter didn't support widescreen resolutions via the external VGA port, so it couldn't be connected to an HDTV properly. The battery life was a maximum of 3 hours. All this misery for a mere £600. I did learn one important lesson from the experience; never buy the first generation of anything.

Best Hardware
Samsung 22"monitor bright full of colour
X1950 Pro graphics the upgrade from built in graphics was awesome
Intel Kentsfield Q6600 should be at the top
P5E Motherboard
Logitech Z-4e 2.1 Speaker System

Worst
ATI 3870x2 H.I.S lasted only 12 months
Razer Carcharias Stereo Headset the little vox/vol controll box knackerd

Worst hardware for me has been my Antec Skeleton case, much less space than I thought.

Best has been my Voodoo5 64mb video card. Ran games at full whack for just over two years before it needed replacing.

Best = Probably the E2140 i paid £15 for and found it happily ran stable at 3.6Ghz!! :D

Worst = Hiper 580w Type R. Crap blew up and took out a 2 week old DFI socket 939 mobo. :(

Best: M225 SSD and antec 1200 case. Both amazingly amazing.
Worst: Raptor M2 mouse (rubbish) and 8800gts 320. The fan broke after 1 day and the card just sucked.

Best:
Going back a bit but I remember plugging a Diamond Monster 3D board into my Pentium 133mhz system and it utterly transforming Quake and Tomb Raider.
Currently still very happy with NEC 20wgx monitor after 3 years

Worst:
Power brick for Dell laptop started crackling then broke 1 week after the 1 year warranty ran out. Had a right battle getting them the replace it despite the law being on my side (the b*ggers).
