Naming your house

As I recall you can buy a Lairdship for added grandeur.

Lawl - were you looking over my shoulder at lunch?! :D

Anyway appears there's nothing stopping us calling it whatever we'd like.

In "good taste" though we're going to stick with the name the house was originally given and make sure to leave the number as visible (if not more) on the outside of the house.

I don't think we'll actually use it on anything but will look nice on the original wrought iron gate :)

We think it's pretty fitting of it's name "Arden House"

As someone who responds to emergency services calls please don't name your house. It's so difficult to find if we don't have access to the gridcode sat nav and is still difficult at night when we need to find the exact house.

if you do decide to name your house, please do all delivery drivers a massive favor and put the name on a sign by the road [pref bold simple style no fancy pictures or colors black and white is enough!] not a tiny black sign with black letters by your front door which is behind 4 hedges and a caravan,

and to think the people with the latter have the cheek to phone up and complain when a driver cannot find their house!

That's me stuffed then. All the houses on my road don't have numbers, only names.
Mind you all deliveries find us

Genuinely not a lie, there is a house at the top of my street (3 bed semi) with a house name of "****em Hall" That's F double O k (not the really bad swear word)

I'm sure it's devaluing my house.....

***Mods I'm not dodging the swear filters, I'm sharing the name of the house at the top of my road.

Why? He said it was difficult, not impossible.

Go for it OP but please remember to never refer to the house number for delivery instructions to couriers etc, you know, make it as difficult as possible for them to find you. For added trickiness, make sure there's also no numbers visible from the road without the aid of the hubble telescope, who cares if people think you're a chav.
