Channel 2 and 5 come up on sky digital as no signal being recieved been like it for numerous weeks now several other channels are the same what can the problem be or am i just stabbin myself in the eye with a pen by writing here thanks in advance. x

If you use a shared aerial box - like most council houses, get the council to come and fix it. If you use a seperate dish from sky, get on the phone with Sky. :)

Ring Sky. I think its best for you if you don't want to ring sky to just experiment with the box a little see if that helps u a little.

I had that problem and it was traced to being a lose connection near the dish, which was getting wet :/

Came off it £65 lighter :o

she doesnt live in a council house and she doesnt subscribe to sky so i guess new box / dish?

Hmm, you thread tittle will suggest she has Sky though and you even mentioned SD in your OP...oh well. :)

Yes, the box and dish with free channels.

Technically if its the free service, its called freesat rather than Sky Digital which is the pay service.

However, it sounds to me that the dish has lost its alignment and needs to be sorted out. The best way to check it is try all the channels on a multiplex that has a tight beam on the UK (i.e. all the BBC Channels, if they are all faulty then it points to an issue with the alignment) - otherwise it may be something else.

Do Service>4>6 (iirc) to see how well the signal strength is..

If thats okay then 2 other ideas;

Box is getting too hot/old and slightly dodgy

Rain/Weather affecting the cabbling
