Afternoon

I am after a NAS box with sata3 6gbps and usb3 interface, for a single HDD. Another option is to go for HDD enclosure with sata3 6gbp and usb3 interface.

I am looking to get a 2TB green seagate or WD drive

Can anyone assist please? Whats best for nas or a external storage drive?
Suggest something pelase :p

Personally I would get a Synology DS112 over a simple external hard drive. I would stick in a 2tb drive of your choosing. I use WD Greens but the new WD Red NAS HD would seem the best option.

This gives you so much more freedom from all your devices being connected, external access and then media streaming etc. So imho worth the initial upfront premium. If you are not overly bothered on usb 3 you could get the DS112j.

Another thing to consider might be getting a 2 bay solution. Yes its more upfront but it gives you the flexibility to expand for more storage or add a second drive later for raid 1 redundancy.

I have reviewed most the 1 and 2 bay offerings from Synology HERE

I am happy to answer any questions or help where I can if you post here I will try keep an eye or email me from my site.
