Hi everyone.
This is my first mac (15' i5 pro
) and the good news is that its all going OK so far....apart from 1 issue. Its also my first post in this section so go easy on me please.
I took my pro home with me a few weeks ago and I managed to connect to my home NAS fine (WD mybook) and I could navigate around the drive in finder exactly like my old windows laptop. Now ive come back down south and trying to access my 2nd NAS drive (Seagate blackarmour 220) but things arnt working the same.
Software such as Itunes and timemachine can see the drive & it is visible in finder. However when I try to connect (in finder) it asks for a username and password which the NAS doesn't have set. Seems the default is 'public'. If I select 'public' and try to connect, it times out and spits out some message about 'not being able to connect' and 'make sure the drive is connected'.
What confuses me even more is that if I right click on finder (in the dock) I can add the 'server' manually. OSX adds a shortcut on the desktop to a folder of my choosing within the drive...but not the root directory. As it happens I have all of my files within 1 folder on Root directory; so I have access to my files.
To add another
, when I first connected to my wireless network for the first time, I could navigate around the drive (the seagate one) in finder fine (which is exactly what I want). Yes, its been rebooted and both the mac and NAS are uptodate.
Any ideas???/
TL;DNR. How can I navigate around a NAS drive from the Root directory in finder?
