Hi

I've just placed an order fo 4x Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB drives. I'm putting on in my main pc as a data drive, and one in my server as a media share drive.

The other 2 I want to put into a NAS enclusure of some sort with the sole purpose of being used to backup from the 2 drives in the pc's.

I was looking at:

http://www.netgear.com/Products/Storage/NetworkStorage/SC101T.aspx

But have found some not very favourable reviews of it, so am now wondering what the best option is. Maybe I would have just been better buying the WD 2tb ShareSpace, but it works out about £150 as the Netgear and 2 drives.

In reality a usb attached enclusure would probably do the job, leaving it attached to my server pc and backing up to that from both machines.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Nick.

There's a few (relatively cheap) raid boxes using esata with steelvine (silicon image) port multipliers. The box + a cheap card will set you back around £125ish.

"mirrordrive II" will get you the one I have. Might be parting with it soon (along with the cheap raid card PCI-e) if you're still looking.
