nas for a usb 3 drive

is there a device to make my usb3 drive a nas storage drive
want to just be able to plug it or other drives in

You can use a Raspberry Pi for this and this should help: https://www.raspberrypi.com/tutorials/nas-box-raspberry-pi-tutorial/

Alternatively, you may be able to plug it in to your router.

Agreed, i think a lot of broadband hubs have a usb port of the back of them that if you plug in a device, it’ll show on the network. Never tried it myself though

interesting, looks like im going to have a Pi then
router has no usb so im really forced to use something like this

Having now done a bit of research, the Pi isn't such a good idea as the Pi 4 simply isn't available unless you're prepared to pay over twice the official price to scalpers. Bummer as I have a use for a small cheap NAS re-using old SSDs.
