I have had a Lacie Internet Disk for about 2 years now and i think the inevitable has just happened!

The drive stopped being available on the network so thought it was just having another of its moments! Looking closer i found that the drive wasnt spinning up. Ive since taken the HDD out (a Seagate Barracude 7200.11 1TB) and plugged it into my desktop, the drive starts to spin up, makes some clicking noises then the spinning slows, rinse and repeat! The drive isnt visable in Windows, either through Computer or Disk management.

Ive lost a lot of things, including my dissertation, a copy of Windows 7 (student download). I take it there is no hope?!

Thanks

Rob

Well this has been quite frustrating (as you can imagine!). Ive opted to get a Netgear RND2110 Duo thing. Looks like the resilience of XRAID will put me in a better position. I think i will get another USB drive to back this up to every so often.

On the whole, will the longevity of 2 drives in XRAID be better, i like the ability to replace the failed drive if one does pop its clogs again.
