NAS needed for my messy backup!

Can you link me to the thread you are referring to please.
I have an older pc after recently upgrading that may be suitable.

Thanks

Basically, you download the latest img from expenology.nl and then install that to a USB stick that stays in the PC at all times, follow the new install process and voila after wiping the HDDs you will have a full blown DSM 5.1 install.

My issue was that all my drives where ReFS formatted after coming out of my drivepooled Server 2012 R2 and I had to load them in carefully in to DSM. I'd recommend using Synology Hybrid Raid and add two small drives first (after moving data off them) and then copy data off the next drive and then the next drive until all part of the SHR array, you'll lose space to start with but you'll have redundancy (via parity) and the ability to mount iSCSI luns :-)

I wanted to look at a NAS just to have 1 backup block instead of having 4 drives on my floor + save plugs!

ideally I wanted to clone my main C:(Main drive) / E: (Photo Drive) so i know that i wont loose "client photos" etc and also a quick way to restore my image(s) to reinstall if anything happens.

Shall try and find the Box you are on about Avalon at £143 and do what Bleed said and get a 6TB WD RED.

At the moment finding Acronis 2015 very poor using incremental backup

I will take a look at stablebit

Guessing you may not have had time to have a look at the above link. If we're talking commercial stuff have you given any thought to off site backup as well? I don't like to consider total loss situations such as fire/theft but they do happen.

You can't really miss the deal I mentioned, the top 5 google results for either micro server or microserver are quite blatant, if not then have a look at HUKD as the deal was posted yesterday :D Stablebit is probably only really going to be of use if you went with internal drives so skip it if you do want a NAS.

ta I've found it :)

Shall start with the case for now untill I get the cash back.

And look at the hard drives
