Hello folks,

So I decided to finally keep my Asustor 302t NAS.

So far its ok, but I have a few questions which I would appreciate clarification.

I want to setup the NAS to backup a series of folders on my PC. I have used the accompanied Backup Plan software to setup a scheduled SYNCHRONISATION backup.

My questions:

1. Should I delete something from my PC, this will get immediately synced to the NAS... my concern is what if I deleted something by mistake? Is there anyway to retrieve it on server side? (assuming say I emptied my recycle bin on the PC and theres noway to retrieve it on the PC).

2. Say I change to a scheduled routine backup on a daily basis for example. Lets say it runs as mid night each night, and say one evening I deleted some files again by accident, the folders gets subsequently backed up and hence losing the files in turn on the backup also. How do I get around this exactly? Is there any feature on the NAS that tracks different deletions for example?

3. If I do a scheduled backup, would it be possible to make the NAS wake up and do the backup and then shut down again? I.e. not to keep it on all the time.

4. EDIT: New question, if I were to make a change on the NAS, say rename a file, this does not get replicated onto the local copy on the PC, is there a way to make this replicate to the PC?

I hope this all makes sense folks, as I said, Im a total NAS newbie so please go easy on me. Much appreciated.
