I've been looking for a replacement for my slow and non-raid Buffalo Linkstation NAS and have been reading up about the Synology Diskstation DS212J as a possible replacement.
As usual I was all but ready to push the button when I saw a recommendation on another thread for the HP ProLiant Microserver for similar money (after a cash-back deal!) and now I'm wondering if I'd be better served (no pun intended
) with one of those!
Can someone treat me like an idiot and give me the benefits of having a server rather than a NAS??
I want a central storage unit in the home for accessing pictures, music and streaming films (either through my WDTV Live, PS3 or direct to the DNLA TV's in the house) but would also like to be able to access things on it from anywhere (ie. web access) and also have it be able to run torrents from throughout the day without leaving a PC on!
Thanks...
