Hi guys, not too sure whether to place this in the networking section or here... :)

Been sorting out my home "network" recently, as my homeplugs were giving quite abysmal performance, decided to drill through one of my walls through to the spare room where one of my PC's is located, and went down to the cat5 route. All good at this stage.

Now, currently connected to my 4 port D-Link ADSL router are my HTPC, xBox 360 and Gaming PC (The one in the aformentioned Spare room). Perfect scenario for a NAS I think, as I have the usual issue of having iTunes installed on both PC's, having to add my CD collection to both PC's seperately, same with documents, shared files, etc. Pain in the rear after a while to have everything sync'ed up.... :(

I'd like a NAS solution which is relatively cheap, and can incorporate a 1TB Buffalo drive currently attached to one of the PC's. If possible, sharing of the Mp3's on said drive to the Xbox too (if not possible, no major worry). Had a quick look at NAS/USB adaptors which allow the plugging-in of an existing USB drive onto them, but i'm not too clued up on them. Has anyone had any experience of these, or recommend any in particular? Seems like a good solution for me...

I would think you would be better off with a dedicated NAS rather than a USB hard drive with a NAS adapter. If you ae finding the current NAS units a bit expensive then just do what I did and pick up a second hand, previous generation, NAS unit for dirt cheap. I have a Thecus N2100 that I got for £50. It was in excellent condition and does everything I need it to.
