NAS

go for the microserver, 2Gb of ram will run it fine in win 7 32bit with 8Gb a 5450 and win 7 64 i could play SWTOR in med detail 720P as well. with a better GPU it could make a nice low end gaming rig.

Now runs as a nas with win 7 for me, love it to bits, probabply wouldnt have it on in the room i sleep in with the stock fan though.
 
Just ordered a Synology DS212J myself today to perform similar tasks. After a lot of hard thought (I also wanted something I could tinker with, to occupy myself) I went with the DS212J. The features Synology make available on all their NAS drives with the excellent DSM 4 firmware are plentiful. Much more than I could ever wish to get up and running on a HP microserver with all the time in the world!

You can go an have a play with the Synology DSM software in the live demo on their site. I highly recommend it.
