NASA

They aren't shopped - you should be familiar with chromatic aberration - that accounts for the edging, the other thing to remember is that in space there is no particular matter to diffuse light - it's hard and direct so the photos are going to be ultra clear.

Oh and the 'shadow' on the shoes - something that seems to be a on a few shoes - soles.

Stop being a diddle and appreciate them for what they are - stunning photos.

I especially like #2 - I can almost see my old house from there - bottom of the North Island New Zealand.

I can't understand why NASA doesn't release more images. They have moaned for years that interest, and therefor funding, has been on the decline. If they released a small selection of photos from each mission they generate more interest.

There's a fair few here; http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/imagegallery/index.html

I stumbled across a part of the Nasa website once that had a library of what must have been millions of photographs, covering all aspects of the corporation. No idea what the link was though.

Yeah they have a massive Database of images but the majority are from past missions and of a relative low quality compared to these ones. They are of great interest to astronomers and the like but not really for the general public. Still you can't go past the beauty in some of them.

I was at the Kennedy Space Centre last November - A great place, highly recommended if you're in Florida.
