NASCAR 2010 - Round 2 - Fontana

I missed it as well :( but thanks to JRS for the link for live lap updates.

There are 34 races to go and Earnhardt better start doing something.
His name won't carry him for much longer.

From what I gather he may have had a mechanical problem last night but 1 win in his last 136 races and that was the result of a gamble by the crew chief does not look good.

He broke the rear axle in one of the pitstops, apparantly too much 'bite' from the concrete ¬_¬

But other than that he wasn't exactly setting the world on fire...

JJ was extremely lucky with his last pit stop, he got across the line just as a caution came out (and I mean *just*), hence classed as a green flag stop, everyone else pitted so he restarted with 20 to go in the lead. Harvick did catch up to him with 4 to go, but then hit the wall just as he caught up, giving the win to JJ.

Montoya's engine went crunch which is a shame, he led a lot at the beginning but had dropped back, he might've been a contender otherwise.

Also Kyle Busch seemed to have a good car, but he pitted just after JJ at the end and didn't quite get over the line in time, so he went a lap down and then got that back straight away but was still back of the pack with 20 laps to go.

Bit scarce on details but it seems you were right Peg, Open Access 3 putting NASCAR coverage on Sky, is it 8GMT that the race starts this weekend? eg likely to be live?

Pity I don't have Sky, this and a few other things might tempt me into trying the 'Sky Player' thing at least...

It is live coverage. It's all rather odd, it seems like an individual has done a deal for the nascar coverage and bought time on open access TV to broadcast it. He has been called everything under the sun this week as people doubted whether it would happen. He is now supposed to be looking for sponsors and adverts to make it financially viable. I was following a couple of forums that were covering this and it was hard to sort out the truth from the bull so I was not holding my breath. It does now show on the EPG for the SKY digital system so it does look like its a goer. Hopefully it pays off for the guy and it runs the full season.
