NATAL or shameful wii copy??

i think MS will add a small handheld controller for use in games with natal

I think that is the only way in which it could be effectively used in more serious game environments, otherwise they are limited to using the Natal device with casual games ony, not saying that's a bad thing but I'd love to this this kind of tech used in a next gen 'core' game.

Also price is a big consideration to take into account in the success of these motion control devices, The Wii's motion Motion+ is being bundled with Wii sports 2 so we know that will be a success, and even as a stand alone product I think it's only retailing at £19.99, the ethos of the Wii is built upon Motion controls so the fight is only really between PS3 and 360, it has been rumoured that the Natal device could hit retail shelves at $200's, that's a lot of money, I would bet that Sony's wand would be somewhere in the middle, I'm hoping that they could knock the wand out at £80<.

I'm not arsed, whoever is first to do a star wars game which isn't like all the crap Wii star wars games then I'll be one happy gamer

I prefer the PS3 purple headed wand, it combines a super precise version of the Wii-mote with the body and depth tracking of the camera. Will probably cost a bomb for the wand + camera though.

Sony's offering due to it being a more hardcore orientated way of playing!

wow, wiimotes are hardcore. well' i never.;)

IGN on NATAL
"Here's the amazing thing -- I played with the Natal for all of 5-6 minutes, and I have to say, it actually works. "

"The first demo I tried was what Microsoft was calling "Burnout Natal." Though it isn't a real game in development, the mixture of Burnout Paradise and the Natal camera was meant to provide proof that you could use the device's technology for practically any genre or software. How quickly I was recognized into the Natal's body identification system (just a few seconds) was surprising, and in a matter of moments I was controlling Burnout paradise with my feet and hands.

Most of the people around me during the MS press conference were groaning when they showed how a racing game would control with Natal in the aforementioned marketing footage, but truth be told, it's a lot more fun than it looks. Though I did miss the bit of resistance that a controller or steering wheel normally gives me, I was shocked to see how natural it felt to drive a car without actually being in one. How easy was it? To accelerate, I simply moved my right leg forward; to brake, I moved it backwards, and to pop it into a neutral position, I just stood straight up (or as straight as my spine would allow me to stand after 12+ hours of E3 spelunking). Driving was just a matter of pretending that I had a steering wheel in my hands, and every subtle movement I made was picked up by the camera allowing me to drive pretty well (and pretty straight) for the few minutes I got to try it out. As an added bonus, the motion for going into Burnout mode was an appropriate Top Gun Volleyball fist-pump. The whole experience was surprisingly fun and I walked away with nary a bad thing to say (which is quite an accomplishment, because normally I complain a lot). "

Sorry but.. move your right leg forward to accel and move it back to brake? stand up for neutral. That sounds horrid to me. You wont b-able to get normal gamers off the sofa where i have to just move my thumbs. After a hard days work i cba to prance about infront of my tv.. Its why i sold my wii after the novelty wore off. Ms saying its the next big thing in gaming couldnt be more wrong imo.

You will like the sound and feel of it for about a week then you will want to sit down with a controller and play a real game. :p

Natal looks more impressive to me :) As long as it works! Voice recognition doesn't really work for some peoples voices though :(

they have voice control now on singstar for ps3, is slower than using a conroller, cannot pickup every word of the artist name and becomes a real pain shouting at the Tv all the time. I'm glad i'm getting old and had the good days. Gaming to me now is trying so hard to go from when it was good with jopads to all this keep new fitness, throw your arms about in the air short mini game rubbish.
