Having trouble clarifying something on the National Rail website.

Going upto London this afternoon and my return journey starts before midnight and finishes after. Will a same day return still be valid?

I remeber hearing somewhere before that a sameday ticket is actually valid until the network closes that day (so 2am ish) but can't find anything to back that up.

Anyone here work on the rail network or know anything about this issue?

Cheers :)

From my station my ticket would be valid on the last train back, before morning rush starts, which can be 3am (but for various reasons is usually 12.30 :().

Basically there are no trains between 3am and 6am thats when the day ends.

you're correct that it's usually until the service stops overnight. Look at the timetable, if it falls at the end of one you're fine, if it's at the start of the next day you're not. leaving before midnight it almost 100% will be.
