NATS Interview Process - FAO ATC's

I did A Level maths. It's hard to say what is required as it comes down to your personal ability to perform quick calculations accurately in your head. Someone with a B at GCSE could be better than this than someone with a degree in Pure Maths.

Cheers Scuzi, Im good at mentally adding, multiplying, estimating that kind of thing its just thinks like Differentiation and the advanced maths stuff that I think i'd struggle with.

Also assuming you get through all the selection and training, what say do you have in where you are located. Wouldn't fancy living in Aberdeen (no offence to anyone), but wouldn't mind Manchester or London. I know on the website it says it will be considered where you would like to go but just wondered in reality what it is like.

You have little or no say in where you are posted. They will post you where they need you and as you will have signed a mobility agreement agreeing to be posted anywhere in the UK, you have no comeback. Most people are posted to Swanwick or one of the London airports if they do aerodrome so you should be all right. You do get to state a preference although we found that people usually got the complete oposite of what they wanted :/

You'll not get anywhere in the North East with NATS apart from maybe Edinburgh.

I originally tried to get a posting to Aldergrove so I could move back home but the course manager told me straight up that I hadn't a chance in hell. I'm glad I got posted to TC though, sometimes a change of scenery is needed :)

A Londoner off my course was posted to Aberdeen much to his dismay as he had to leave his family behind and whatnot. He protested for ages but got nowhere and causing a fuss when you're only a trainee is a really bad idea. So, he took the move but having spoken to him recently, he has been valid up there for a while and seems to love it.

My immediate reaction is....I don't want Aberdeen, but I'll worry about that later down the line. Edinburgh or London would be good...as would Manchester. I'm not that fussy really

Silly silly silly forcing people to move to Bournemouth* to train.

*Nothing wrong with Bournemouth as a place at all, it's NAT's unexplicable decision to have their one and only training facility there.

Training facilities are expensive and instructors are in incredibly short supply. The 'college' is at Bournemouth because that's where it has always been! (as far as I'm aware). They used to train students with live aircraft, I believe a long time ago there was a squadron that existed purely to help students learn to control; they were based at Bournemouth Airport.

Besides, Bournemouth's lovely in the summer!

Good luck to anyone applying. We heard this week that people who get through the recruitment process are among the top 1% of the UK population. For those that do get through be prepared to be tired. It's amazing how exhausting a 45min sim run is.

Crikey - totally forgotton about this! Never even went to stage one as I met a girl shortly before going to interview.

Must have made the right decision as we're now married!

Just got back from it - £70 in fuel aswell.
Got through the ATC paper, but only managed to complete 28 out of 50 of the first, and 29 out of 40 on the second (cubes) paper.
Although im pretty certain I didnt get any wrong on the first paper im sure that 56% completed isn't enough to get through and im gutted.
