Natwest Student Railcard - Who has one?

I should be getting one of these from RBS when my account changes to a student account , and in glasgow at least you can get a discount from the machines.

As should I, however I am too old to use it and there are zero rail links around here.

When I opened my Natwest Student account about 7 years ago they gave you £60 instead... much better

i got a few years back as i traveled a lot between liverpool an southampton, saved me a ton, without the card it would around £85 but with it bout £50, cheaper than the coach an a lot more quicker an comfy lol, even on the small journeys it helps

how might I go about getting one?, do I just need to go and open a student bank account?

will be starting my second year in September and im 20 if that helps.

You need to open Natwest's student bank account - see http://www.natwest.com/personal/students.ashx

Unfortunately their requirements are:

You can apply for a student account at any time. However, to get your benefits (including your 5 year 16-25 Railcard), you’ll need to:

• Have been ordinarily resident in the UK for three years or more prior to commencing study
• Be an undergraduate, in the first year of your course
• Make sure your account is open before 10 October
• Register for online banking and online statements before 30 November

This means you're not eligible if you're in your second year.
I've always bought a 16-25 railcard - for people who don't get the Natwest offer they cost £26 per year, or £65 for 3 years. If you travel on trains more than occasionally it's worth it. Exactly the same benefits as the free Natwest one - full details at http://www.16-25railcard.co.uk/

It's 1/3 off most normal train fares, with a minimum fare after discount (£12) for certain peak-time journeys.

Pretty sure that requirement is only for the free Natwest one, you can still buy one as normal.
