NC10 Owners - booting to cd help

i have an nc10 that i want to put windows7 on at work, i have plugged in a USB sony DVD drive and it spots it in the bios, i have selected it in the bios as the first boot device, however it just misses it and goes straight into XP.

any ideas?

Have you not got an 'F' key you can press to get a 'Boot' order up that you can choose from?

Is it a full size 5.25" external one? reason i ask is i have a lg one and it was hit or miss wether it would boot from it, i found that if i quickly ejected the drive as soon as pressed the power on the lappy and close again it would recognise it and boot, which seemed odd

In the past ive used a slimline drive in a usb enclosure which was purely bus powered and that booted every time

Hit F12 on the boot splash screen to bring up the boot options and try selecting the optical drive option from there.
