NEARLY 2 YEARS WAITING: New Mustang GT PP is finally mine!

Sorry Gibbo, I was not trying to put the guy down, I did know from your posts, and his videos of the Ford Wolverhampton meet, that you guys had met at least once I had no idea of the level of acquaintance.

Like you say the video was pretty early in his ownership, and a lot of the points are quite nit picky from my perspective to be quite honest, it just struck me that someone who appears to be a bit of a petrol head, and appears to be trying to educate others through his videos, did not seem to have the basic understandings I would have expected.

Again some one getting this kind of vehicle I would have expected to have previously owned a reasonably powerful RWD car of some kind, so would have known the basics.

Rather than possibly go straight from even a very good FWD with its very different handling and traction characteristics, straight to a very powerful RWD which could be rather dangerous if unaware of the way it would hand;e compared to what you have come from.

I've only had a test drive in a couple of dealers Mustangs, so obviously not really been able to get close to any of the current cars handling limits, or even give it some to test out traction limits.

But I have driven RWD for many years at work and privately so know all the pitfalls and I know my limits very well, so when I get my Mustang, I will be bale to push it and have fun after I have learnt its individual quirks.

Certainly from the few reviews about, of the way a 2018 Mustang handles on its new magneride and new stock tyres, (seriously hope we get them as standard in UK, will save me having to add them instantly the car gets delivered) then it does sound rather calmer than current stock car, and obviously the 10 speed auto, if chosen, will make a big difference to the way the car pulls away from start and the way it delivers traction.

You'd be surprised, I think a big BIG percentage of Mustang owners have gone from FWD hatches to these, it is also one of the reasons why so many have unfortunately being crashed, particular during Winter months. The Mustang allows people who would normally only be able to afford FWD saloons, hatches or Coupes into a RWD powerful V8 coupe, as such many get caught out.

Lol

True everyone's taste is different I'm more into the stock look myself. I think they look great out the box. It just needs a nice Whiny supercharger bolted on just for fun. :)

yea it's a tricky one to discuss without causing offence, because to me a Mustang feels totally wrong WITHOUT the supercharger, but with this Mustang you wont hear the Blower, because the exhaust is far too loud and raspy.

Oh you will always hear the charger don't you worry.

It is such a different sound that the exhaust would never over ride the sound of a super winding up.

On massive top fuel dragsters with open pipes you can still hear the super wind up if you listen for it.

This, Mal clearly has not heard one of these cars with a Whipple. My mates yellow one has a louder exhaust as he also has full headers, but oh my his Whipple over powers it and that is standard air intake on Whipple, you can mod a Whipple to also whine like the old school ones did, the two noises are very distinct.

Ive done that switch and RWD does require a different kind of respect to the car when driving. Get some track time or practise with nice amount of space for any mistakes just to be sure it sinks in that RWD can be very different to FWD. I just read recently of somebody in a Ferrari who wrote it off within 1 hour of picking it up from the dealer. Obviously thats an extreme but its easy for someone new to stay in the FWD mindset and get not even five seconds to readjust that attitude :p

I'd repeat that to anyone I know who gets RWD big or small never mind these kind of beasts

Electric cars are dangerous like that. What they going to do about that in 2040. My neighbour and his AC Cobra which must be like 100db (now sold) was the right combo imo but fast electric and silent?

That's why I love the A45 currently, you can literally stamp on the pedal and it will launch out of a corner without even the traction control light coming on. It generally looks (and feels) a bit cringe if you get the back out in a rwd on normal roads, a bit like you simply cannot drive properly. There's just no space to be able to do such a thing 90% of the time.

Really?
I quite enjoy sliding around, empty roundabouts are great fun in RWD and power oversteer is fun, whenever I do it well it puts a big grin on my face. Feels superb and never had issue with lack of space and I am not the best driver but a good driver can be sideways as much or as little as he wants and stay in lane and in control. Having owned an EVO X and GTR its all far too easy having endless traction, makes it easier to go fast though and holds a big advantage in the wet.

But I think for other RWD owners, whenever I've being sideways, I never cringe, I SMILE! :)
What other people think, I could not give a beep beep about.

@Richie On who's system?

I cannot find the 2018 models on the UK Ford system, can you post a link if you know where they are ?

The 2018 models have been on the US system, to build and price, for almost a week now Gibbo posted the link on the 24th July.

And if it is the UK system where are the options for 10 speed auto ?

12" digital dash ?

Active exhaust ?

Royal Crimson and Kona Blue colours ?

And all the other nice things the 2018 is all about.

The Ford USA build and price your 2018 Mustang.
The open to public main Ford USA website as people in USA can spec and order their car now for delivery oct/Nov time, till that gets delayed due to popularity I guess lol :)

Ok i see, so the dash an exhaust could be standard as part of the performance pack which is option able in USA but standard here same as 2016-2017 were.

Well gutted if Royal Crimson is not an option over here though really like that colour, and the 10 speed auto was looking forward to that too. :( :(

Is this Ford UK system buddy?

It was rumoured that export models would get active exhaust and digital dash as standard.

If this is UK system is is very nice to see the adaptive suspension as that is clearly magneride and nice to seat Recaro seats, though I will probably stick the standard seats as the cooled and heated is a nice option unless you can get the Recaro to include cooling and heated?

10-speed is the new auto option, that is 110% available, trust me they would not make all exports manual only as it would kill their sales as the current generation was like nearly 50% auto, the reason its not listed is just because it is always an option to select automatic.
