1:15am last night i was on my way to pick 3 friends up as they had been out and i was going to give them a lift home.

Theres a roundabout about a third of the way there between a pair of dual carriageways and it's not exactly the best lit, i'm approaching the roundabout doing about 40, but gradually losing speed.

No traffic ahead of me at all so i'm looking for cars coming round the roundabout, a taxi comes round but he's passed before i get there so i carry on.

I'm in the left lane as i'm taking the 1st exit, i move onto the roundabout doing about 30ish and as i round the bend onto it, what do i find?

A bloody cyclist coming straight at me wearing BLACK! with no lights!

What kind of idiot rides round a roundabout the wrong way dressed like that with no lights?, moron!

I managed to swerve & must have missed him by only about a 6inches to a foot!

Who's fault would that have been if he'd ended up with his face embedded in my windscreen??

His for not wearing the right gear.. (Not by law of course)

The chavs round by us do this a lot.. I make a point of trying to mow them down..

of course it would be his fault but........you are a motorist so sorry you are going to prison and bricks are coming thru your window after the local press print a horror story and print your address in the article.

I must encounter cyclists with no lights, or reflectors, all dressed in black atleast once a day  never had them going in the wrong direction though

How can someone be so stupid  No doubt you'd get done for driving without due care and attention!

I'm not sure where the law stands, but I'd like to see the police fining cyclists who don't wear reflective gear or have lights on their bike.

Other night I was parked at the side of a busy road about 6pm (dark), and went to pull out - looked in my mirror, nothing there, so I began to move away, next thing I hear someone shouting - some ******* ****** cyclist **** shouting at me - him with no helmet, lights or reflectors. I wound down the window and gave him a ******** of abuse - if I'd been 2 seconds earlier he would have gone right into the side of me.

A few years ago my mum was giving me a lift somewhere, and something similair happened to her. It was a dark night and some chav dressed in a black tracksuit with no lights on his bike was riding towards us on the wrong side of the road. My mum stopped to let him pass, and he then had the ordasity to shout abuse at her for getting in his way!

Perhaps he was simply trying to porve he was faster than you? :p

In the words of the great JC:-

Clarksons highway code on cyclists: 'trespassers in the motorcars domain, they do not pay road tax and therefore have no right to be on the road, some of them even believe they are going fast enough to not be an obstruction. Run them down to prove them wrong'

my neighbour hit a guy on a roundabout in a similar situation , broke both his legs , the guy admitted he was in the wrong and that was that

Drivers don't pay road tax either, they pay Vehicle excise Duty.

Cyclists don't wear out the roads, and good cyclists don't inconvenience drivers.
