Just noticed the NEC MultiSync® LCD20WGX2 20.1" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Black/Silver (MO-009-NE) on Special Offer at the moment. It would be used for general surfing, etc and a bit of gaming. 6ms leads me to think it would be ok for gaming and such and a lot of people on here have said it's a nice monitor. Upgrading from a Quantex 19" CRT, so the question is..... do i buy one??

Also what's NEC's policy with dead/stuck pixels,etc??

Many thanks,

If you can live with the glossy screen then, yes.

Otherwise go for the 21" Samsung 215T - I have one on test at the moment, and based on my initial impression, the image quality is exceptional.

It's a stunning monitor, especially compared to the 2025 or 2007. A fantastic product and I'd highly recommend it.

Well, had this old 19" CRT for 5 or 6 years easy, so i reckon i'll have this for a while if i buy it, which i probably will during the week. Thanks for the thoughts guys :)

I've not tried any other 20" widescreen monitors, but then again I dont want to. This is one superb screen.

I was'nt sure about the glossy screen but now I have it I am definately in favour of it. I have the sun shining through into my room for most of the day and even when its at its brightest I dont personally find it that much of a inderance (spelling??) :D

It seems to be good at everything, games, desktop and movies are pretty good.

I'm curious to know what you base your conclusion on.

Have you owned and evaluated all 3 for the same length of time?
Owned both the dell and Viewsonic for approximately one week. Both had too many niggling issues for me.

Touchy, touchy.....

I'm not looking for a "competitor", I'm sceptical as to whether the place that he describes even exists.

A retail shop that stocks widescreen Dells AND Viewsonics AND NECs, let you take them home for a week to try out AND return them if you don't like them and which they won't then be able to sell again as 'new'.

Yeah, right.

They didn't stock the NECs and if you are persuasive enough the majority of places will allow you to return goods if you are unsatisfied. Just ask for cash back and go to a different branch, it's really simple. I ordered the NEC online, I was always going to order my final monitor online for the money savings.

That's hardly the same thing as a shop letting you take out multiple monitors on trial. If you were really that way inclined, you could buy multiple monitors 'on trial', then kick up a fuss with any retailer and demand a refund. Don't think they'd be too pleased with you though.

Never said I did. You don't need to kick up a fuss, be polite and honestly tell them that the moniter didn't meet your expectations.

I have a feeling you're going to be a bit of an arse about this and keep on at me so this will be the last comment I make on the matter with you.

Ta.
