Hi,
Looking to build a pc in about a week (finally! :p)
So could some people spec me a Gaming pc... the res i would like to get decent frames on is 1920 x 1200 (just incase some1 asks)
No accessories, operating system or monitors is needed in the spec.. since i have all of them.

My case preference would be the Corsair Obsidian 800D.. but if theres something better, spec it.

Thanks, looking for some good specs! :D

CORSAIR performance bundle £340.99
INTEL i7 930 £239.99
GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R £154.99
SAPPHIRE HD5870 £304.99
PATRIOT VIPER 6Gb £135.99
INTEL X25-M 80Gb £189.99
SAMSUNG F3 1Tb £65.99

Total is £1432.93 inc VAT.

Doesn't take into account if any items are on special offer, so could be cheaper.

Damn, beaten to it.

Yeah that's pretty much exactly what I was going to recommend, only thing is that if you don't feel the ssd is worth £190 you could get a smaller hard drive to install windows on, then just use the 1tb drive for games and video etc.

The this week only special offers are now updated.

The patriot viper ram is £6.01 cheaper.
Intel i7 920 is £199.99

So you can save upto £46.01 on the above spec.

Thanks for the spec.. but no need for a SSD just yet... :p

This was initially my spec, feel free to make some *major* improvements if needed.
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5870 Vapor-X
£349.99 (Better than standard 5870?)
Asus Rampage II Extreme Intel X58
£264.99 (Read a lot of reviews about this one, seems i have enough money to get this... bad choice?)
Corsair Obsidian 800D
£209.98 (Staying with this case)
Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping
£199.99 (Worth upgrading to the 930?)
Corsair HX 850W ATX Modular SLI
£142.99 (Need a minimum 850w)
Patriot Viper 6GB (3x2GB) (1600MHz)
£135.99 (Seen a lot of people recommend them)
Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB x 2
£97.98 (Aren't these better than the F3's?)
Thermalright Venomous X
£42.99 (Got it recommended by someone)

Total = 1444.90

Tried to fit in my opinions... how bout that spec ^^? Isn't that any good?

Depends which black your picking? 64mb cache?

SSD will dump all over them if you going for raid0?

What do you want 850w minimum for.

The 930CPU is not worth the £40.

Your ram price is incorrect, see my above post.

Asus Rampage III is due out in the next couple of weeks. Might be worth holding out if you're considering the R2E.

I was thinking the same thing.. but i think it will be around £350.. too much for a motherboard TBH.. :p

@stulid.. im not really concerned about the speed of HDD's TBH... just more storage, but its gotta be a little fast :p dont mind my system taking the extra minute to load ;)

If you put the i7 920 CPU into my spec.

Add an additional 1tb harddrive for a total of 2gb.

Its still cheaper/faster/better.

tbh i think the 5870 is over priced for what it is, id go with the 5830, its £200 cheaper and still kick ass man!!

I would get a 5850 and overclock it. Once its overclocked its better than a stock 5870 and at around 100£ cheaper its well worth taking a look.

Surely if your spending £1400 there must be room in your budget for a SSD. Even the lowly Summit Series i bought brings a massive difference to everyday use.

There is! Check post#2, then #4.

So after that he can still add the extra 1tb harddrive for 2tb total.

Or replace the 1tb drive with a 2tb one.

Yea thats true.. don't need an SSD yet (will stick with this :p), i will wait a little longer, just need the more important stuff first (if that makes sense)

Whats with all the Fermi and ATi arguments.. should i wait for Fermi?, IMO i think its pointless and i should stick to the 5870....

1 more thing no1 has actually recommended which 5870 would be the best to get?
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5870 Vapor-X = Is the one im looking to get...

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-218-SP

Im leading towards Drake22's spec... and leaving out the Obsidian 800D and a R2E... Hmmmm 2 x 5870's ;)
