Can anyone suggest one??

In the specs of most of the 2x2gb kits, they say they are designed for vista - will these still work on XP??

I would love to hear from anyone who is running a kit succesfully on XP. Thanks

Yes, they will work just fine, I am running 2 x 2gb now on XP 32bit. The problem is with a 32bit OS you will not be able to fully utilize all 4gb of installed system memory. You need a 64bit OS to fully address 4gb+ of system memory. Google for more details.

Yes, I am using our PC6400C5 DHX 4096 kit which is 2 x 2gb. I make it a point not to recommend memory (ours or anyone else's) just because it seems like pimping unless I am specifically asked to do so. But, I'll help you with any info I can.

i currently have 4gb of team extreem installed using xp 32, shows up in windows as 2.75gb if you want the full benefit of 4gb you have to go to a 64 bit version of windows, changing to vista 64 bit soon myself (as good as xp is now change is inevitable) so i think its time to move on.

Saying they are designed for vista is just a marketing gimmick so yea it will work you just wont see all 4GB of ram being used :)

I'm actually in the same position myself, debating whether to go to 4GB, it's unnerving seeing memory usage at 97% (of 2GB) or more running Supreme Commander or Crysis etc.

What about performance? Would there be any performance hit because not all the memory can be used? I've already experimented with 4x1GB, XP saw 3.25GB total, which I'd be very happy with, at least until the inevitable, unavoidable Vista upgrade. :(

When I say a performance hit I mean, as it's dual channel, would it make a difference? Can you still use dual channel mode? Would each stick be using 1.625GB of it's total or would one stick be used fully and the other only have 1.25GB in use?

Sorry to hijack the thread but the responses could help us both.

Thanks in advance.

</important stuff>

Incase OP's interested, I'm currently looking at these:

I've just had (last week) bad luck with Crucial and that's the last time I'll be trusting them, I've never had problems with OCZ though, just my experience.
