Need a cheap sat nav

Hi

I'm looking for a cheap sat nav system for the car, nothing special, I just need something for the odd journey here and there. I really dont want to spend a lot on it,150 pounds max but the cheaper the better :D just as long as its reliable. Has anyone got any recommendations?

Thanks... looks like what I need, just looking at the manual for it now, direct from the manufacture looks the cheapest...
 
Buying a PDA off Ebay along with a GPS receiver. Then installing the TomTom software on the PDA is by far the cheapest way.

Also if you have a smartphone its most likely that you can installed TomTom software on that too, which would save buying a PDA.
 
bought the missus a navman F20 - well impressed with a google discount and free shipping she got it for £100

I have a smartphone on contract and purchased tomtom mobile for it - absolutely brilliant - i'd say nearly as good as the TomTom I used to have!

I did this with a smartphone and bluetooth GPS receiver. I just had a copy of the tom tom software on a compact flash card, and as soon as I put it into the phone it installed the software. Works perfectly and its very easy to update it with all the speed camera databases.

Same. Does the job ok. Sound destorts slightly though at times, not a huge problem, more of an annoyance.

Think google checkout discounts have come to an end now though :(

Navman direct are very good, very quick. Ordered a case for mine when I registered it (couple of quid off IIRC) shame they only had pink or purple :o
 
I just picked up a TomTom One V2 and it's great, very impressed so far. Installed the PocketGPS speed camera database too, works really well.

That reminds me actually, if you want speed camera warnings don't bother with the Navman, they suck. I'll probably end up switching them off entirely next time I use it.

Max speed warning is a nice feature though, got it set to 80 so if I creep above that without noticing I get a little beep to let me know.

Although having been a passenger with you, I fear that the sat nav might not be quick enough to be able to lock onto satellites.
 
I brought myself the the navman F20, I went to halfords after work to look at it and it was there at full price. I decided to go to Toys R US to look at the transformers toys, so I can remember the joy from back in the days, and the unit was there for £130 pounds. Only 10 pounds more that the manucfactures site after P&P; plus it allows me to play with it straight away :D .

I been testing it out, and the directions are very clear. It did tell me to turn at a junction where there was a slip road to use instead, but overrall I very impressed but shows that theres no subbing for local knowledge.
