How quickly can I get one? I'm off to Norway for four months on Wednesday and am sure I'd have to pay a small fortune to get one over there. Is there a way I can get a chest xray tomorrow or tuesday? I have an acute pain in my right lung that has lasted for a week.

As above Accident & Emergency is your only hope of getting one fast tracked but it'll be up to the assessing team there to decide whether it warrants one.

And if it doesn't then there probably isn't a need for one..

Not sure why the OP didn't just go to his doctor/A&E in the first place.

The other option is to find your nearest private hospital and give them a ring, they will probably be fine with giving you one, for a cost, however they probably need a reason (such as a medical).

or try your local hospital with a Minor Injuries dept. They can see you, and often a lot quicker than A&E.

if you get an 8000 lumens LED torch, you can shine it through your torso and literaly see the cancer eating your lung

had one done privately on thursday

London bridge hospital in london will do one in 10 mins flat if you call the respiratory consultants secretary and get them to fax the order (same building so instant). They obviously expect you to make an appointment with the doctor but whether you attend is up to you (cost for that is 180.00 if you have no insurance). xray is everyday but the consultants appointments are only tuesday and thurdays.

they give you a copy of the xray on disk for free - xray cost is £104.00 - you can view this yourself on your PC and/or take it to your GP and tell them to pull their finger out if necessary.

A&E is obviously the smarter, quicker move though.

whats the point in just an xray, you could have loads wrong with you and unless a qualified person looks at it (or its glaringly obvious) then that was a waste of £104! get and see a doctor pronto!
